Sick Day BOO HOO

This pretty much sums up my day. The littles have been fighting some sort of gross bug that has finally landed on me. Today os my first official day of my new schedule of three day weekends and I had high hopes for today and my weekend, however it seems besides going out with my sister for her 30th b day tomorrow I will be grounded. I am hoping for lots of rest but I know that is most likely not in the cards.  I hope you all have a fun and healthy weekend and that the sniffles skip your house!

Ha! Marigold On The Move

Ha Ha, such a hoot. I got home with the littles yesterday and sure enough Marigold  was splayed out on the floor of the hallway like someone was trotting her around the house before they left in the morning.  Here she is, still with a smile on her face. I am sure she was glad she did not have to lay on the cold bathroom floor all day.

Meet Marigold

Picture 372

Meet Marigold. My daddy gave me this doll when I was born. Legend has it that when I was born my dad did not get the message that my mom was in labor and he was at work. So my mom went through the  hard work of birthing me solo. I ended up  being a C-section baby and he would not have been allowed in the operating room in the 70's but she still went through it alone.  When my moms friend finally got ahold of my dad she told him I was a boy... So he rushed to the hospital to meet his son and was greeted by me. LOL, I was quite the surprise as I am sure you can imagine. I think somewhere in this sotry .. I have heard over the years he came to the hospital with a baseball glove and when he learned he had a daughter  he went out and bought this little doll for me. That is how Marigold and I were forever linked in Michelle history.

It's plain to see my little Marigold has been through the ringer. I have scribbled on her, cut her hair, attempted a career in kindergarten as a fashion designer creating this destressed overall look that she currently sports. Who would have know I would have been so fashion forward at 6? She has been washed in the washing machine many times over the years ... and for being 31 she looks kinda beat up like she has lived a hard life, full of love and snuggling when we were little girls.

When E and I moved in together. I did not keep too many of my old stuff animals and dolls I had growing up. Marigold, a doll my great grandmother gave me I call my Grandma Helen Doll  and my Barbie collection is really all I kept. Sorry People can not give up Barbie. Here's a random little bit of me knowledge... I played Barbie until I was 15 years old.  E thinks this is hilarious but I just tell him  " See, what a nice sweet girl you married forever young at heart and not in a rush to grow up, like some of my old friends and cohorts!"

Anyways Marigold sits on a picture frame on my bed table. I placed here there as a place of honor and to keep her safe from wild at heart littles who are far too rough for her old age and condtion. The littles however have been spotting her for a little while now and have been eager to get their hands on " Mommy's baby". They are finally able to reach Marigold and when I get home from work on many a day I find her on David's bed, sitting on the kitchen table, propped up on the couch relaxing. It's very funny. So,  as Iwas cleaning up last night and found her on the sofa table in prone position her little leg crumpled up under her I thought I would snap and picture and introduce her to the world.

Bento Box Bonanza

Picture 324

So for months now I have been reading a cute little blog, actually to be quite honest I have a tiny blog crush on a few of the blogs I read daily Wendy's Blog is one of them. She creates these fantastic little bento boxes for her son  that I adore and have been wanting to do for the little for awhile now.  I headed over to Daiso and picked up some cute little supplies to get me started.

Picture 320

Yikes lots of stuff goes into proper fun bento making? I should have know. I stuck  my supplies in a clear shoebox I picked up at here. A secret weapon I use to stay organized at home I got an awesome deal for 30 of these hot little puppies so I have plenty to use around the house. For now I am storing on top of microwave for easy  prep access... some of these little items will be used to jazz up all of the littles meals. Yes, a little more work but alot more fun and thats what it's all about at their age in my opinion.

Cupcake Love!

After a really truing but satisfying day yesterday I needed to treat myself to something decadent. I have been talking for a week now about wanting a cupcake. E had to run out for some milk and while he was there he picked up this outrageous cupcake from PW Market, from their gourmetcupcake line. Wooza! I was a little surprised by his selection but then again we have been together for almost 10 years so if anyone knows the combo to my bliss zone its E...Chocolate +Cupcake = happy happy Michelle. But not to fret I only ate half of this little chocolate lovliness and still on  the fence if I am going to nibble the rest today or give it to the littles

Things that are usually on our shopping list:

Salsa  and Chips. TJ's- Salsa Especial is our favorite
Milk -it does a body good
Chocolate -it's my favorite
Eggs -quick cheap protein for the littles when they are picky
Cheese - many types, the littles are cheese hounds
Wine - Duh!
Veggies -of all sorts
Dips- the littles love them for pick up dips

Dining Room

While I was going through the new Crate and Barrel catalog I spotted this cute dining room. I love the dark wood finish in this picture and the idea of benches with traditional chairs. In fact, a couple of years back this is the exact same look I was going for in the kitchen ( my house is not big enough for a tradition dining room... I have a breakfast nook) I think the benches would be easier for the littles to work with as they get older.

Looking at this picture of dining table bliss makes me want a new house, new furniture, new shopping trip to C&B . OH (sigh), if only...

Just A Thought

Yesterday E received a letter from one of his old students who arrived at the boot camp with in the last few weeks. He enlisted after graduation and is becoming a Marine. The day before he left he called E to tell ask for our address. He did not have a lot of people to write too while he was gone and he wanted to write to him. When the letter arrived i thought it was awesome that a student of his would want to keep in contact with a teacher after graduation. It particularly warmed my hear to know that although new to instructing students (with in the last two years .. auto body tech at a local ROP program) E has made such an impression on his kids. When the letter arrived he was out on a fishing trip with another old student and his family. In fact his phone is always blowing up with a student calling asking for advise on this or that or an invitation to a fishing adventure or car show or just to hang out. I think its awesome. i think he does a good job. And I just wanted to say I am very proud of him and all that he does at work and at home.

Pamper Me Night At Home

Picture 225

My penny pinching has resulted in my giving myself my own mani pedis for awhile. I try and indulge myself weekly but life and time and mama maintenance gets a way from a girl when you are chasing down two littles. The only problem with doing your own at home ... I am sick of all of my color options at this point. So yesterday I took it way back retro style and mixed my own color. I use to do this when I was young like in middle school.

Picture 230
My color options. E offered to help. He is an auto body painter by trade adn is pretty good at mixing and creating colors. He asked what I was looking for I gave him a color and he came up with the recipe.

A little base coat, shiny purple on top . I LOVE OPI colors because the coverage is awesome and of course a fan of OPI knows that its all about the names of the colors right?

Fantastic! Nothing makes me feel quite as girlie as when I have painted toes and fingertips,to make my night even better I sipped Pellagrino out of the bottle, nibbled on dark chocolate and when my nails were dry I hit the hay @7:30. Lovely ending to a stressful Monday.

Happy 123456789!

How did I spend this once in a lifetime moment? With my sweetie

-- Post From My fabulous iPhone

The mini date consisted of a walk on my usual route at work, a skinny vanilla latte a kiss. Cute. I figured because E was in the area I would take a later lunch and spend this minute with him. In case you do know not know 123456789 is

12:34 mins 56 seconds 7 (july) 8(8th day) 9 (2009)

I guess the buzz about this is that this is the only time in 1000 years that that sequence of numbers appears in one day. Kinda nerdy cool. So what were you doing @ 123456789?

Presedential Pooch

Picture 044

Well not really but quite a dashing and charming fellow none the less. I met my very first Portuguese Water Dog last night. I was so smitten with this dog, honestly I have never seen such a beautiful and well behaved dog. And no, I was not just taken with him because of his gorgeous curls (I am a fellow curlie too as we all know)

This is the same breed dog that the President and his family love and care for. After meeting this puppy I can see why they choose this breed, uber friendly , gorgeous coat and very handsome!

Picture 045

Anyways, I just wanted to share a pic of this chap, since his "kind" has been in the news lately.
